More Standard this Standurday

November 19th, 2008

This Saturday we’re playing Standard Constructed. The event will start as usual: gathering around 12:30 and the first round starts at 13:00. I won’t be able to make it to the event this Saturday, since I’ll be out of town. This week’s event will be sanctioned by Alex Trofin and Mydas will assist with the arrangements during the tournament, should it be sanctioned. Remember, we need 8 players to sanction an event.

Two Headed Giant results

November 18th, 2008

It seems to me like the Two Headed Giant isn’t supported enough or something. It’s true it’s a format to which less people have access since you have to pair with someone and actually build two decks together to play. Still, though, I feel like we could have some more participation.

Did you go ahead an pick-up the Jace vs. Chandra Duel Decks yet? Lex Copy Center has them in stock since Friday, November 7 when the set launched. I’ve had the chance to check out the decklist of each of the packs and I’ve got to admit they’re awesome.

Titanic Victory

Naya wins the block Shards of Alara

It took only two rounds to decide the answer to yesterday’s question. The finals were disputed between two Naya decks, so it was pretty obvious which Shard would win. By the way, my apologies for the misleading title of yesterday’s entry. It wasn’t a true dispute between the shards, because the “shards” rule wasn’t in place. We’ve just played a regular block constructed game.

Which shard will prevail?

November 7th, 2008

Shards of Alara block constructed tomorrow, as you very well know. Last weekend a Grixis deck won the draft, but this time it’s totally different. The freedom the constructed format will allow for much better and coordinated combos.

Please remember to double-check your decks before the tournament so that you don’t accidentally use spells that aren’t legal in this format. Only spells from Shards of Alara may be used, no matter when they were printed. For example, you may use an Oblivian Ring printed in Lorwyn because it was re-printed in Shards of Alara. However, you can’t use Giant Growth printed in Tenth Edition because it wasn’t printed in Shards of Alara.

We gather in Amnesia Crem Caffe starting around 12:30. As usual new players are welcome, but be sure to come early if you don’t have a DCI Number yet, since this event is sanctioned. The first round is planned to start at 13:00.

Shards of Alara draft results

November 6th, 2008

We drafted last Saturday, and there’s still a bitter taste in our mouths. Well, except for Ender, who opened a Sarkhan Vol. Drafting Shards of Alara isn’t quite as easy and fun as drafting Lorwyn/Morningtide.

Drafting Shards of Alara

October 30th, 2008

As planned, this Saturday we’re playing limited. It’s been a month since the Shards of Alara block was released and I’ve seen a lot of decks played for Bant, Esper, Jund and Naya, but not so many for Grixis. Would it’s popularity be different in limited?

Standard Tournament

October 24th, 2008

Tomorrow we’re gathering at the usual place, Amnesia Crem Caffe, to play a Standard Constructed tournament. People are comming in around 12:30, but you may come earlier if you wish to trade cards. If you haven’t played with us before, be sure to bring you DCI card, because this is a sanctioned event. If you do not have a DCI card, we will create one for you on sight.

Two Headed Giant winner:
One was a faerie, the other a goblin

October 22nd, 2008

Last Saturday we played the first sanctioned multiplayer event. It was very nice to see everyone taking it deadly serious, and presenting specially crafted decks for the event. We’re all looking forward to the next 2HG event, which, alas, we won’t make until next month.

The Two Headed Giant

October 17th, 2008

Yes, I’ve finally had this website setup, but there’s no time for a recap now, let’s just have a heads-up for tomorrow’s competition (even that is late, but I hope it comes in handy). Mainly we’ll have a look over what new rules apply to this kind of tournament.

Tomorrow we’re meeting at the same place, but a different time: around 12:30. The reason is people having begun classes at the university. That means the first round will start around 13:00, and if there are three rounds we’ll finish around 16:00.
