The next level: Nationals Qualifiers
April 10th, 2009Here in Iaşi we’ve always promoted competitive tournaments more than casual play. We try to play in DCI sanctioned tournaments every Saturday as much as possible. But true competition can’t always be achieved when the setting’s all the same.
The good news is the Nationals are coming up. Held each year, National Championships are the highest level competition for a particular country. In 2009, players from 67 countries will compete in Magic: The Gathering National Championships for the right to represent their countries at the 2009 World Championships held in Rome, Italy on November 19-22, 2009.
How to qualify: Option 1
If you’re just too good you will be automatically selected to participate in the Nationals. All you have to do is be in the Top 20 according to the Romanian DCI Composite Rating or Romanian DCI Total Rating.
How to qualify: Option 2
If you’re not that high with DCI ratings, you can still qualify by competing in the NQ event on June 6. The Top 4 is qualified for the Nationals, unless they pass their place. You also need to be able to travel to Bucharest to compete in the Nationals tournament on July 25. If you can’t travel to Bucharest, you will need to pass your place to the next in line. Update: You can’t pass your place. The qualifier results are final even if you can’t travel to Bucharest.
Of course, if you’re in it for the fun (like most of us are) you can participate in the qualifiers even if you’re in the Romanian Top 20. Or, you know, just to be sure.
How to get in
Basically, all you have to do is show up Saturday June 6 at the tournament. Of course, we’d like to know you’re coming, so please drop by our forum and let us know. See ya there!

You can’t “pass your place” to the next in line. If you’re in the top4, you’re qualified. If you’re not, you’re not.

Sal,
locul de la qualifiere nu poate fi cedat celui de pe locul urmator. Daca te-ai calificat la nationale si nu poti merge mai tarziu… cam asta este. Nimeni nu primeste invitatia ta.
