January 2009 recap
January 25th, 2009This year started with a few hiccups, because of our playing location. The games were good, even though this chase for a new location affected us in some way. We’ve played 2 tournaments so far, since yesterday’s got canceled due to lack of players.
January 10 Standard results
It’s been a while since I’ve seen more than 8 players in a tournament, so I guess it’s been a long vacation and people were eager to play! This is also due to the fact that we’ve got 3 new players on board. It was quite unfortunate that we’ve met at Arte Bar that day, since it was closed until 5pm, like every day. We did keep the event though, back at Amnesia.
January 17 Two Headed Giant results
This tournament’s got the best participation so far: 12 players, 6 teams. Once more, Dan and Raisa’s blue and red combo ruled the day, followed by a mix of mind-rotting, grave-digging, burning deck combo of Mydas and Ender. The rest of the teams just played Rock, Paper, Scrissors, each winning a round.
January 24 Standard results
Only 6 player participated in this event, meaning the tournament wasn’t sanctioned. This is most probably because of our location issues, a problem which needs to be addressed real quick. This stops nobody from playing, though, since some of us went a long way for building and testing their decks.
Coming up: The Conflux prerelease
We’re less than a week away from the Conflux prerelease. Further details about this tournament will be posted two days from now, so stay tuned! What’s for sure is that you have to keep up with the news, like the rest of the crowd, so be sure to keep and eye on the spoilers, as well as the buzz from the preview articles on Wizard’s Daily MTG. By the way: there’s a Malfegor waiting for you if you show up playing at the prerelease party! (While supplies last.)
